I was looking for reference for bracket fungi, and I ran into this:
And second I saw that, I was like ”wait, that looks familiar…”.
Then it hit me.
I’ve been playing a lot of Digimon Digital Card Battle on my way to work lately. It’s a really stable card game and holds up pretty well for a PlayStation 1 game. I should probably pick up the other games as well.
Anyway, I wanted to draw the main protagonist of Digimon World 1 and Digimon Digital Card Battle, Hiro, to kind of commemorate the series I probably spent countless hours playing on the PS1 :D I remember when I first got Digimon World 1, I was very annoyed that it had nothing to do with the anime, but I quickly got hooked on the game and probably spent way too much time on that game to this day.
The game is basically a Tamagochi/Pokemon type of game where you grow and strengthen your partner to fight and bring Digimon who have for some reason gone wild back to the city that they left. The one aspect that makes it less like Pokemon and more like Tamagochi is that you only have your one partner and it WILL eventually die and you have to grow it from an egg hatchling over and over and over. Might sound like a hassle, but it’s the main part of the game - the stats you give your Digimon (strength, defense, weight, age, number of battles, type, etc.) are basically what decides how your Digimon evolves and some parts of the game won’t let you progress until you have a certain type on-hand. Anyway, I’ve had loads of fun with the game and apparently they’ve done a new one in Japan for the PSP and DS called Digimon World Re:Digitize. A very awesome group of people are working on an English patch which I’m eagerly waiting for :D http://digimonworldre.wordpress.com/
ANYWHO, I tried drawing in a different style for a change and sorry for the puke green, I kinda decided on the color on the fly =P
